The process

From first strokes to finished

First marks: a floppy ear and a single eye on otherwise blank paper.
Both eyes and ears rendered in graphite, the nose still just an outline.
The face and nose complete, the neck and chest a light sketch.
The whole head rendered, shoulders taking shape.
Muzzle detail and whiskers refined, the collar beginning to appear.
Chest fur and collar nearly complete, seen up close.
The finished drawing, complete with its softly shaded background.
