ABOUT HANNA:

Hanna Iglikowska was born in Lodz, the 2nd largest Polish city under the communist regime at the time. Inspired by her father, an accomplished artist who is now a renowned Art Professor, she developed a passion for art at an early age. He encouraged her to pursue her passion and to acquire a thorough + disciplined art education. At age 15, Hanna entered the Art High School of Lodz and upon graduation she was accepted at the prestigious Wladyslaw Strzeminski Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. Throughout her five years there, she studied art by old masters as well as the cutting edge art of modern artists and was trained in a variety of techniques including painting, sculpting and prints. In 1988 Hanna graduated with high honors from The Art Academy. In addition to painting oils and drawing, Hanna was heavily involved in mezzotint prints which she still cherishes today.

Hanna came to the USA in 1992 with her husband and this dramatic new change in environment and lifestyle, paved the way to depart from her early "safe period" of colorful abstract paintings + prints. It was a time to journey on the "road less traveled"... into the new riskier frontier of "light and dark". Hanna purposely self-limited herself to non-figurative work utilizing very basic subtle color pallet, which gave her opportunity to "break through" to new areas and to experiment more in integrating complex forms + dynamic shapes.

In 2002, it was destiny that Hanna met a most extraordinary man that would remarkably be her future “guiding light”. His name is Joseph Palermo and he exemplified + epitomized “the true accomplished modern day artist”. As an award winning artist, Mr. Palermo was also a former student + apprentice of the renowned artist, “JOAN MIRO”. Joe Palermo had been published in numerous notable publications including “New York Times” and Who’s Who in American Art” and his select works were exhibited worldwide and owned + coveted by celebrities such as President Gerald Ford; singers, Tom Jones + Neil Diamond; Prince Fahd of Saudi Arabia and Senator Strom Thurmond. Mr. Palermo saw a distinctive style + pure natural ability in Hanna’s art. He was “impressed” by her work and today he remains a trusted friend, artistic influence and creative inspiration.

The dramatic result is work that evokes changes in feelings, as what was a harmoniously simple piece of soft nuances + subtle shading can dramatically, at a closer view become more intricate and even turbulent in nature. Today, she has found her own singular way to translate the rhythm and spirit of life into a composition of image, texture + shape. Her work is just as complicated and beautiful as our crazy, fast-paced, mixed up, information-packed, precarious reality. In all their complexity, Ms. Iglikowska's work can be emphatically simple, physical and spiritual at the same time. Currently, Hanna Iglikowska has come full circle in her imaginative journey, as she is now working on a new collection that will incorporate diverse colors back into her modern pieces.
